This guide explains how Android users can sync Fitbit activity data to Google Health Connect and then connect Health Connect to the Converge App for Move Challenge tracking.
Important: The Converge App connects to Health Connect, which acts as the central hub for health and fitness data on Android. Fitbit must be connected to Health Connect before Converge can receive Fitbit activity data.
Before you begin
Make sure you have:
-
A Fitbit device that is fully set up and syncing with the Fitbit App.
-
The Fitbit App installed on your Android phone and signed in to your Fitbit account.
-
The Converge App installed, with your profile registered and signed in.
-
Health Connect available on your Android device. On newer Android versions, Health Connect is built into Settings. On older versions, you may need to install it from Google Play.
Menu names may vary slightly depending on your Android version, Fitbit App version and phone manufacturer.
Part 1: Connect Fitbit to Health Connect
-
Open the Fitbit App on your Android phone.
-
Open the Today tab.
-
Tap the gear or device icon to open Fitbit settings.
-
Select Health Connect.
-
Turn on Sync with Health Connect.
-
Follow the on-screen instructions to allow Fitbit to share health and activity data with Health Connect.
-
When prompted, allow the relevant data types, including steps, distance and activity data used for Move Challenge participation.
Fitbit is now connected to Health Connect. The next step is to give the Converge App permission to read the data stored in Health Connect.
Part 2: Connect Health Connect to Converge
-
Open the Converge App.
-
Tap the Profile icon from the app home page.
-
Tap Settings.
-
Tap Health App or Connect your device, depending on the wording shown in your app.
-
Select Health Connect.
-
When the Health Connect permissions screen appears, tap Allow all.
-
When asked whether Converge can access data in the background, tap Allow.
If you choose individual permissions instead of Allow all, some Move Challenge tracking and participation features may not work. At minimum, allow the activity data required by your challenge, such as steps and distance.
Part 3: Confirm the connection
-
Open Health Connect on your Android phone.
-
Go to App permissions under Permissions and data.
-
Select Fitbit and confirm that Fitbit can write the required activity data.
-
Select Converge and confirm that Converge can read the required activity data.
-
Open the Fitbit App and allow it to finish syncing with your Fitbit device.
-
Open the Converge App to allow the latest activity data to be processed.
Activity data may not appear immediately. Google Fit or Health Connect data can take up to 48 hours to sync to Converge.
Troubleshooting
Fitbit data is not appearing in Health Connect
-
Confirm that the Fitbit device is syncing successfully in the Fitbit App.
-
Return to Fitbit App settings and confirm that Sync with Health Connect is enabled.
-
Open Health Connect and check Fitbit permissions under App permissions.
-
Ensure Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled on your phone.
Converge cannot access Health Connect data
-
Open Health Connect and select App permissions.
-
Select Converge and enable the required read permissions.
-
Reconnect Health Connect from Converge > Profile > Settings.
-
If Google Fit was previously connected to Converge, disconnect it first, then connect Health Connect.
Data is delayed or missing
-
Keep the Fitbit App and Converge App permitted to run in the background.
-
Check Android battery settings and remove battery restrictions for Fitbit, Health Connect and Converge.
-
Open the Fitbit App and manually sync the device.
-
Open the Converge App after Fitbit has completed syncing.
-
Allow up to 48 hours for activity data to appear.
Nothing has worked
Disconnect Health Connect from Converge, restart the phone, and reconnect it using the steps above. If the issue continues, reinstall the Converge App and repeat the connection process.
