Syncing issues - Fitbit

View common troubleshooting and syncing guides for Fitbit devices here.

Important definitions

Fitbit Account

Your Fitbit account is required to sign in with in the Converge App. You are required to have a Fitbit account that is active and signed in on the Fitbit App for iPhone or Android. We do not support Fitbit devices which are synced to iPads or Android tablets; only iPhones or Android smartphones.

Google Health Connect

Google Health Connect is a free Android service that acts as a secure, central hub for syncing health and fitness data between different apps and devices. Instead of having to connect every app individually (e.g., trying to get Strava to talk to MyFitnessPal), Health Connect lets all your apps read and write data to one shared, on-device storage space.

From 2026, you can choose to connect your Fitbit Account with Google Health Connect which may enable faster syncing from your Fitbit to third party apps, like the Converge App. Depending on your device and settings, there may be a delay of 24-48 hours for your Google Health connect data to appear in the Converge App.

Fitbit App

Your Fitbit wearable or fitness tracker requires an active Fitbit Connect account which is signed into the Fitbit App. The App connects to your Fitbit device periodically to synchronise data or to manage data received wirelessly from your Fitbit device.

Fitbit app and account issues

Fitbit devices are mostly used for tracking steps and some activity data. To connect your Fitbit to the Converge App on your iPhone or Android device, you’ll need to download the Fitbit app on your phone and have a Fitbit account, or Google Account connected to Fitbit.

  • Make sure you have downloaded the Fitbit App to your iPhone or Android device

  • Make sure you are signed into a Fitbit account on the Fitbit app on your iPhone or Android device

  • Make sure you are also signed into your Fitbit account in the Converge App: Setup Fitbit devices

Syncing steps issues

For some Fitbit devices and Fitbit devices that mostly track steps, you need to have Bluetooth on your smartphone turned on and open the Fitbit App on your iPhone or Android device and sync the steps. It can take up to 10 minutes for the Fitbit App to sync to your iPhone or Android Fitbit App - once synced to your Fitbit App, your activity data will be uploaded to your Fitbit account which will then sync to any approved and connected Applications, like the Converge App.

  • Make sure you have Bluetooth on your iPhone or Android device turned on

  • Make sure you open the Fitbit App and wait up to 10 minutes in the App for the steps data to sync to the iPhone or Android Fitbit App (check this in the activity section of the App)

  • Wait up to another 10 minutes for this data to sync to your connected Fitbit account

  • If you have Google Health Connect, establish a connection:

  • It can take up to 48 hours for your activity data to sync to the Converge App from your Fitbit account or App.

  • Disconnect Fitbit account from the Converge App if you are continuing to experience issues and re-connect after. You can do this in the Converge App and then re-connect.

  • Delete the Converge App and re-download the Converge app if you continue to experience issues after following all the above recommended steps.
